Our Team
Thank you for visiting our site. We are a team of six therapists that provide comprehensive treatment based on the Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) model developed by Marsha Linehan, Ph.D.
Jamie D. Shumake, LMHC
Jamie received his Master of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling from Long Island University, C.W. Post. He formerly served as the Clinical Supervisor at The Renfrew Center, Old Greenwich, CT, an out-patient facility specializing in the treatment of women with eating disorders. Prior to joining The Renfrew Center, Jamie was a Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialist for the Haven at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Westchester. He has trained staff in DBT in New York and New Jersey and is a consultant to community entities of Nyack in the management of out-patient mental health issues. He completed the Advanced Intensive Training in DBT with Dr. Linehan and Dr. Manning in 2008 and is the Consultation Team leader for DBT Associates of Nyack.
Kaitlyn Giordano, LMHC
Kaitlyn is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Certified Tobacco Cessation Specialist (CTTS). She is a graduate of Pace University with a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling. In addition to her work at DBT Associates of Nyack, Kaitlyn is the Manager of Integrated Behavioral Health Services at Westchester Medical Center. Prior to her present position, Kaitlyn was a Primary Therapist at the Renfrew Center of Old Greenwich, CT, treating women with Eating Disorders. Before she joined the Renfrew Center, Kaitlyn was a Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialist at New York Presbyterian Hospital, White Plains, NY,specializing in the treatment of Geriatric Populations.
Stuart Mandell, CASAC
Stuart has more than 22 years experience working in the field of substance abuse and addiction. He began his career coordinating treatment, prevention and referral for children and adolescents in NYC foster care. In addition to his work at DBT Associates of Nyack, Stu recently retired as the Senior CASAC (Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor) at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Westchester Division, where he provided inpatient counseling on the Addiction/Dual Diagnosis Unit. Stu has worked with both male and female populations from children to senior citizens. He holds a B.S. in Human Services from SUNY Empire State College and is a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS).
Matt Kraus, MPH, LMHC, LCAT, LPC
Matt Kraus, MPH, LMHC, LCAT, LPC received his Master of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling and Creative Art Therapy from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA. He currently works as a Primary Therapist for the Renfrew Center for Eating Disorders in Greenwich, CT. Matt also works as an Outpatient Counselor at Connecticut Counseling Center in Danbury, CT where he runs the Substance Abuse IOP Program and conducts intake evaluations for the State Court System. He has worked as a Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialist for New York Presbyterian Westchester campus' flagship unit the Haven as well as the hospitals children's unit.
Andrew McIntosh, LMHC
Andrew received his Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Long Island University. He completed his Intensive Training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy with Dr. Charles Swenson and has also completed advanced training in DBT Skills Training at Four Winds Hospital. Andrew specializes in DBT for young adolescents, as well as substance use disorders for adolescents and young adults.
Gillian Sinclair, LCSW, MA, CH.t.
Gillian received her degree in Social Work from New York University and received her MA in Depth Psychology and Transformative Language Arts from Goddard College in Plainfield, VT. Additionally, Gillian is a certified hypnotherapist. Prior to joining DBT Associates of Nyack, she was Clinical Director of Intensive Outpatient Programs at Second Arc Psychiatric Associates in White Plains, NY.
